this epic-length, 15 1/2 hour opera release features a production of wagner's entire "ring" cycle (der ring des nibelungen) by the royal danish opera, with all four installments presented consecutively: das rheingold, die walk?re, siegfried and g?tterdamerung. kasper bech holten handled the production; michael sch?nwandt conducts. this version per se takes a somewhat unique approach by setting each of the installments in a different decade of the 20th century, and using that chronology to comment on some of the idelogies that prompted the collapse of the "modern age."
